[pɪl'bɑːrə], Bergbauregion in Western Australia, zwischen De Grey River im Nordosten und Ashburton River im Südwesten, rd. 500 000 km2, 49 000 Einwohner. Das seit den 1860er-Jahren durch Rinder- und Schafhaltung genutzte Gebiet erlebte Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts sowie seit 1990 einen Goldboom und entwickelte sich seit den 1960er-Jahren zum wichtigsten Eisenerzrevier Australiens (1994: 120 Mio. t). Eisenerze aus der Hamersley Range und der Ophtalmia Range sowie vom De Grey River und Robe River gelangen über vier Bergwerksbahnen (etwa 1 200 km) v. a. zu den Häfen Port Hedland und Dampier.
